The journey from project to nonprofit org begins!

One last chance to give Phil 5 before he headed off to run New Zealand

We’re back in the States, recruiting board members and starting paperwork to become an official 501(c)(3) organization. We’re also looking for projects in Latin America to film in October and November. If you know an organization that might like to partner with us, please e-mail us.

While in Europe and the U.S., we’ve had some fantastic meetings. The communications director for International Relief and Development was excited about our mission, calling it a “peace corp for media.” We were also encouraged by a representative of the Asociación Pro Derechos Humanos de España, who sees a great need for our work in Central and South America. And we were thrilled to catch Phil Guerrero of the Give Phil 5 charity run before he headed off to New Zealand to prepare for his adventure. (Don’t know Phil yet? Check out our video about his mission.)

In other great news, we got word from Charlene Bredder in Kampot, Cambodia, that the videos we made to support her efforts to bring resource-making to the Provincial Teacher Training College have spurred multiple donations, and will be screened for the Ministry of Education!

Next week, we head to the Pacific Northwest. We’re planning to incorporate in Washington State, with the strong support of Seattleite and future CSM board member Meri Bauer. With its entrepreneurial spirit and philanthropic culture, Seattle will be an ideal home base. Emerald City, here we come!
