What Makes the Mexican Island of Cozumel So Special?

The Mexican island of Cozumel in the Caribbean Sea is world famous for its coral reefs and white sand beaches. But it is also home to a vibrant local community, important historical sites and diverse ecosystems. We asked residents to share what makes Cozumel special to them, and we hope their answers will help visitors experience the wide range of cultural and natural offerings on the Isla de las Golondrinas – the Island of the Swallows.

Highlights from the interviews include eating food from the market (Mercado San Miguel), competing in the Cozumel Ironman, visiting natural areas like Punta Sur park, visiting the Mayan ruins at San Gervasio, and supporting charitable organizations like Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (Family Wellness Agency).
